Hello again everyone!

Here at the end of our 7th week of not being in school.

I have spoken to lots of parents on the phone this week and it has made such a lovely change. As much as I like an email, a good old natter on the phone is much more up my street (especially at the moment), so thank you to everyone who has had a chat with me during the week.

So let’s see what everyone from 8G have been up to…

Charlie has been being very arty at home this week. He has made some beautiful rainbow pictures to put in his window, and has even made pictures for Nanna and Grandma’s windows. What a lovely idea! Charlie has enjoyed spending time on his trampoline (thank goodness the Sun has re-appeared this week), as well as some nice walks with Mum and Dad and his brothers. Charlie has worked hard on his sight-reading again this week, doing lots of over-writing practice, and has been practicing his addition word problems using the Numicon to help him. Wonderful work, Charlie!

Harrison has been busy baking at home this week. Mum sent me some brilliant photographs of the cakes that Harrison has made for VE day celebrations. I love that they have red, white and blue icing on them. Well done, Chef Harrison!

I got to speak to Nicola on the phone this week. While I was on the phone to her Mum she was very chatty in the background, but as soon as she got on the phone to speak to me she suddenly became very quiet! Mum says Nicola has been helping out doing jobs while she has been at home. I’m glad you are helping Mum, Nicola.

Daisy has had another fun-packed week. She has been enjoying the activities based around The Very Hungry Caterpillar book that Mrs Down sent home at the beginning of the week. Daisy has made a delicious looking fruit kebab by following Mrs Down’s recipe, had a go at making a paper caterpillar (great fine motor work!), and has even been practicing putting pictures in the right order to re-tell the story! Daisy and Mum have also been doing lots of lovely activities linked to the VE day celebrations that are taking place today- they’ve done potato printing of poppy shapes, made some bunting to hang up for their afternoon tea party and have been listening to some Vera Lynn songs too. Sounds like you have had lots of fun, Daisy!

Jake has been helping Mum with jobs around the house this week. He made his own lunch of his choosing- jam sandwich with cherry tomatoes on the side and a packet of Doritos! What a combination! He’s also carrying on perfecting the art of a good cup of tea, as well as watering the garden too. Keep up the good work, Jake!

Ben is continuing to work hard on his maths skills this week with Mum. He has been putting the numbers 1-10 in the right order and matching the Numicon shapes to each number too. He’s also been perfecting working out how many objects he has by putting them in the same pattern as the Numicon shapes. Ben's dancing class that he usually attends has moved online, have a look at the photo of him taking part on camera. He has also followed Mrs Down's recipe to make his own fruit kebab and decorated some delicious looking biscuits! Brilliant work, Ben!

Francesca has been doing lots of reading and writing again this week! Mum says Francesca gets her to ask her lots of questions about the story that she has read, what brilliant comprehension and understanding practice. Francesca has enjoyed playing on Education City and Purple Mash again this week- she has designed her own sandwich and has been completing an activity about the life cycle of a butterfly to coincide with The Very Hungry Caterpillar story. Super work, Francesca!

And last, but by no means least, Rose! Rose has been very busy again this week. Mum has ordered her a scratch art kit and she has been making some beautiful rainbows, she wants to send the other one to Nanna (just like Charlie with his rainbows). She has been playing on the games on Education City and Rose wanted to paint a picture of a fruit bowl, just like the one she made on Purple Mash a few weeks ago. Rose has been practicing simple subtraction sums and using pens to help her work out the answer- what a great idea! Finally, it was supposed to be Rose’s Mum’s schools May Day celebrations on Wednesday, so Mum and Rose had a picnic in the garden with Rose’s dolls to celebrate. What a fantastic week you’ve had, Rose!

Yet another busy week for all the pupils in 8G!

We cannot forget our Star of the Week too. This week it is…

Charlie! Charlie has been working ever so hard at home, but we decided to pick him this particular week for his wonderful rainbow paintings and for being so kind to make them for his Nanna and Grandma. Charlie and his Mum have also helped the 8G staff team with a very important job this week too, a big thank you to Charlie and his Mum!

I hope everyone in 8G are looking forward to something very special that should be happening on Monday afternoon- watch this space!!

Stay safe everyone,

Mrs Fisher, Mrs Down, Mrs England and Miss Aindow
