Hello everyone,
We've all made it to the last day of this school year! Who is tired and ready for a rest?! I am!
Thanks so much to everyone who joined us for our Morning Group sessions this week- I hope you enjoyed them as much as we did in school.
We have got our final video call together this afternoon- I'm excited to have a good sing song and do some Playdoh Gym too.
Did you manage to catch us on the news this week?! How exciting that our class was on the news report about school! Has anyone been asking for your autograph yet? If you haven't managed to watch, there is a YouTube video of the report on the school YouTube channel where you can rewatch our amazing rendition of What's the Weather again.
There was no way that we could pick just one person to be our final Star of the Week this week, so that means it's EVERYONE! You are all absolute superstars and we are all going to miss being in class with you next year. Miss Hendy, Mrs England and Miss McPartlin are so excited to be teaching you in 9G though!
It's been a quieter week for a lot of us this week, I think we are all ready for a good rest!
Ben has been going over his Number work this week with Mum at home. He has been having a refresher of everything that he's worked on while he has been learning from home- brilliant work, Ben!
Charlie has been having a good go at the Six Star Challenge this week again and has earnt his Silver certificate! He's been helping to sort the washing into lights and darks, having a go at writing the names of the some of the foods that he found in his kitchen cupboard, trying NEW food (which can be a very big challenge!!)- Charlie chose a red pepper and gave it the thumbs up afterwards! He's also been weighing out the ingredients to make some more of Mrs Mahood's amazing brownies. Charlie has enjoyed some walks this week while the weather was dry and has been role playing being a waiter and taking his family's orders. Super work, Charlie!
Daisy has been very busy. Daisy chose 4 nature themed books to read this week- The Gruffalo, We're Going on a Bear Hunt, Bee- Nature's Tiny Miracle and Home for a Night from the Oxford Owl website. She has been enjoying using the Colourful Semantics to build sentences about the Gruffalo story again and has been doing some Bear Hunt themed dances. Daisy enjoyed making a sensory water bottle and then had a go at our World About Me science investigation- freezing flowers and leaves. Mum sent an amazing video of Daisy helping Mum to melt the ice using the hot water. They've also had a Gruffalo picnic together and made fairy cakes to eat at the picnic too. Daisy and Mum also watched mine and Mr Massey's Weather Hunt video on the YouTube channel and had a go at recreating it at home. Amazing work again, Daisy! Daisy has also earnt her Gold certificate again this week for her Six Star Challenge work. She's been helping to sort the washing, weighing ingredients for her fairy cakes, running on the spot as fast as she can (like the Gingerbread Man), making a den in the garden, trying kale in her soup at lunch time and doing some brilliant over-writing of food from her cupboards. Wonderful Daisy!
Francesca has been excited this week because she has got a Mr Tumble cushion- can you see it at the top of the blog? Isn't it brilliant! Francesca also sent us a postcard this week and it had arrived in school when I got there on Wednesday morning. Thank you Francesca, what a lovely idea! Harrison, Nicola and Skye loved reading it in school this week. Francesca has been doing lots of reading, writing, puzzles and Numicon work this week. She's also been for a few walks and managed to go to the cafe today for some cake! Brilliant work, Francesca!
I have been in school this week again with Mrs England and Miss Aindow with Skye, Harrison and Nicola. We have had a relaxed few days together. We all made some Goodbye cards for Mr Poxon as he retires today after working at Astley Park School for 31 years! Mrs England and Miss Aindow made delicious chocolate muffins with everyone and then we shared our cards and some muffins with Mr Poxon too. We have really enjoyed watching our Photo Stories of photos from the last 2 years- it is crazy how much everyone has changed and grown up!
Last but not least, Rose has been working hard at home again. The nature themed book she chose this week was "Incredible Animals" that she found on the Oxford Owl website and Rose has enjoyed learning more about the animals in the book. She has been for a walk and collected lots of natural items, then used these to decorate the letters from her name. Don't they look brilliant! Rose has been practicing adding 2 numbers together and then using the water spray to spray the right answer and wipe the chalk number off the floor outside. Super work, Rose!
Everyone should have received their end of year card and pressies as well as the link to view our Photo Stories too- please let me know if you haven't.
We just want to say a huge thank you to all of you parents and pupils too for another wonderful year in school together this year. Thank you for all the support you have given us over this time- we are very grateful to have had such amazing parents and pupils too!
Thank you so much to those who have sent gifts into school for us! We are ever so grateful for your generosity.
We wish you all a fabulous summer holiday and want you all to take care and stay safe!
Lots of love from Mrs Fisher, Mrs Down, Mrs England and Miss Aindow xxx
