A fabulous final week for 11G before we break up for a well deserved rest over half term.
Lots of wonderful fun activities this week including keep fit sessions with Joe Wicks, exhausting but really great fun..and then a great Trepak and Russian dancing session using bouncy balls in time to the music. What a fabulous way to stay healthy .
As part of Internet safety day we have been looking at the very important topic of internet safety, making posters, completing word searches and discussing what internet safety means...we watched a video on the subject put together by pupils in different classes. We also used the Blue-Bots to learn about coding and debugging...using them to follow directions by programming them to go forwards, backwards and to each side.
During the week we had a video call with some of our class mates and we enjoyed finishing off our rain forest activity by creating different rainforest animals out of play dough. I’m sure this activity was enjoyed by the mums as well as the pupils.
Story sequencing and comprehension: As a class we read a fabulous interactive story about Doris the Loris, Doris lived in the Jungle and loved making up stories for all of her friends. In the end she writes her stories onto large leaves using juice from berries...hence the very first library came into being.
Once we had read the story and identified all of the different types of animals some of us cut and pasted the pictures of the animals to form the sequence of the story whilst others wrote out the story as a sequence, using the pictures to guide them.
Our World: During this activity we learnt all about the different categories of animals and started to sort them into groups, we looked at mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds. We then looked at the differences between the groups and we learnt that crocodiles are large reptiles, Gorillas are mammals, Frogs are amphibians and finally Kingfishers are Birds.
We then used this knowledge to search out other animals which belong in each category.
During My thinking and problems solving we began to learn about Time, we found that we remembered a lot about this subject and some of us were able to use the interactive whiteboard to show that we know which is ‘0’clock and half past while others were even able to show us that the know quarter past and quarter to.
We used our own individual plastic clocks to help us tell the time and we also used stamped clocks on paper to draw in the correct hands.
We will carry on with this subject after half term and we will also use Time to do sequencing activities.
At home Nathan completed his own wonderful work on Time and Jessie made a gorgeous abstract painting using a straw, water and paints. An artist in the making.
So, Take care everyone and have a relaxing half term. Ms Lea
