This week in school our theme has been 'Different Families, Same Love'. In 11R we have been celebrating LGBT+ History Month. We enjoyed a TEAMs call with our friends that are learning from home and we found out all about different celebrities that are part of the LGBT+ community. We did our own research on people we admire, that are part of the LGBT+ community, and chose one to create a PowerPoint on.
We found out some really interesting facts about how difficult life was for the LGBT+ community in the past and learnt about the Stonewall Riots in 1969. These riots were so important as they inspired the Pride events which take place all over the world each year.
The Rainbow flag is widely recognised as a symbol of the LGBT+ community and represents diversity and differences of people. We too are all different, we should be proud of who we are and celebrate our differences. Together we talked about the ways in which we are different and why that is a good thing.
Be proud to be you!
