11G have had a very busy and fun week , obviously refreshed after half term and ready to learn.
We have all been spending time working hard on book creator, making our own individual animal encyclopaedia. We have already looked at the Polar region and the Rain Forest and added animals from those habitats and now we are searching for information, facts and pictures of sea creatures. We are enjoying building up the encyclopaedia’s and already they are filled with various animals from the different habitats.
To support our work on ocean animals we have created a habitat in our tuff tray, using water, sand , shells and lots of plastic ocean creatures.
We are also looking forward to starting some physical work in our school polytunnel. The pupils already in class spent a couple of hours trying on work boots, outdoor coats and gardening and the pupils working from home will be able to try them on a week on Monday.
The work that we will be doing is going to be towards our ASDAN accreditation and it will consist of clearing the weeds, tidying up, and planting vegetables and flower seeds in raised beds.
We looked around the polytunnel and talked about how we will keep ourselves safe whilst gardening as well as why it is important to wear the correct protective gear.
This week we have also been learning about diversity and equality . We have watched videos and power points and also had discussions about our families and how it doesn’t matter who is in our family, it could be siblings, parents, step parents or carers, family members could have different coloured skins or be female, male or both genders...but the main thing is that all families love each other...different families-same love.
We learnt more about this subject using art as we painted our hands and then did a different coloured hand print for each member of our family. By doing this we also saw that some of us have two separate families and sometimes even spend time in two different houses..very interesting.
During the week we took part in a video call with some of our pupils who are working from home and we watched a power point all about different families before taking turns talking about our own family, we noticed that each one of us have different families and that each one of us is loved within our family.
On Friday we had a rainbow day where we were encouraged to dress in bright colours, it was lovely to see all of our pupils, at home and in school wearing lovely colourful clothes and we also had a rainbow celebration assembly to mark the end of diversity and equality week.
Well done everyone.
