11G learners both in school and at home had a fantastic World Book Day today, starting with story time. As a class we have been studying animal habitats and at the moment we are looking at Oceans. For World Book Day, we chose the story Commotion in the Ocean by Giles Andreae and David Wojtowycz. Each learner chose an animal out of the story and had a matching role play mask. We read all about animals in the sea as well as listening to the wonderful rhyming story. Students were encouraged to read the page about their own animals and then answer some questions about them. We even pretended to be some of the animals in the story like crabs, sharks and jellyfish.  The learners at home and school were set an under water challenge which included finding more facts about sea creatures, talking about how to stay safe in water and looking at things that float and those that don't. The learners in class also created their own under water pictures and used Commotion in the Ocean playdoh mats to manipulate the clay into shapes.

During the afternoon we all took part in our whole school costume parade video call that was hosted by Mr Welsh. At the end of the day we finally read a story called "The Pirate Cruncher" that one of the students had brought in from home.

Well Done 11G, another fabulous World Book Day.
