Well, the Easter holiday is finally upon us and I’m sure we are all looking forward to relaxing and eating lots of yummy Easter eggs.
This last week we have been busy in 11G doing lots of different things and taking part in lots of varied activities.
Starting on Monday we celebrated Down Syndrome day by coming to school in odd socks and we watched a great video about how we are all different. The video was really easy to understand and afterwards we talked about how we are all different.
We have been spending more time working in the poly tunnel, we have now planted tulips, runner beans and spring flowers after first of all weeding the raised up beds. Every other day our class have been taking turns to put on their gardening clothes and water the plants so hopefully we shall soon see a real difference once they start to grow.
The cress heads that we made last week have also begun to grow and they look so funny with lots of green cress hair...we took them home on Friday.
Some of us enjoyed reading an interactive story on the whiteboard called The enormous turnip....we took turns moving the colourful semantics words to help tell the story ourselves and lots of learning was done through this fun reading and speaking activity.
We also took part in a brilliant activity where we talked about things that are good and things that are bad for the environment. We then took turns choosing a good picture and a bad picture. We stuck the good picture onto a green leaf and the bad picture onto a red leaf before then sticking them onto our Environment Tree on the correct side. This tree is now in pride of place in our classroom and is a daily reminder to us all to look after our Environment.
Towards the end of the week Mrs Powell helped us all to draw a mind map on the board to remind us what Easter is all about and why we celebrate it. We then watched a video about the Easter story and talked about it before then making Easter crafts and Easter cards to take home.
One of our parents, Mr Howe, sent in Easter eggs for all of 11G and they were very happily received. Thank you Mr Howe.
Well done to both Isaac and Nathan who both got Star of the week.
So, Have a great holiday and stay safe everyone. Ms Lea. X
