Oak class have been sailing through this week in their pirate adventures. We loved alerting our bodies to The Pirate Song; we went forwards, backwards, this way (left), that way (right), up and down, up and down, over the deep blue sea. We even created a few of our own dance moves too!
We've been building our fine motor skills by practicing to write words of objects we saw in our pirate sensory story, On a Pirate Ship, and we always enjoy reading the sensory story because our teachers make the story come to life with twinkling stars, gusting wind, steering wheels, crashing waves and sparkling treasure.
We dug through the sand with Mrs Baxendale to find our treasure shapes and matched them to the circle, triangle, square and rectangle treasure chests then we splatted to our foam gold coins with Miss Curry to find even more shapes! We have been trying really hard to count the number of sides and tell our teachers if the shapes have round or straight edges.
In our My Creativity lesson, we splatted parrots made of foam and colourful feathers with Miss Troughton and we made our own red parrots from card. Our parrots looked so pretty!
I wonder where our pirate ship will take us next week in Oak class?
