What a wonderfully busy and enjoyable week this has been for staff and pupils in 11G. We have really enjoyed ourselves and learnt lots of new things at the same time.
During our maths lessons we have been learning lots more about multiplication and division and how they can work alongside each other...the group doing this work have really concentrated and shown lots of skill in the subject.
Our other group have been working equally as hard doing lots of counting and sharing, using different items and concentrating on numbers up to fifteen. Well done to Amelia for getting star of the week for working especially hard in this subject.
During our literacy lessons we have been looking at verbs and nouns and using them within every day sentences. We have also carried on reading the Pop Family series and concentrated on sight reading.
Outside of the classroom we have spent lots of time watering all of our plants in the poly tunnel. We picked some broad beans and some of us tried them straight out of the pod...delicious. This is such a fun and interesting way to learn all about growing our own food.
One of the most fun things that we did this week was to talk about different types of energy and then we followed a design to make our own kites which we took out onto the field to see if they would fly using the natural energy of the wind. The day was fairly still but we managed to get most of the kites up into the air after a few minutes when a gentle breeze came along to help us. Really good fun and a brilliant way to learn about the interesting facts concerning different types of energy.
On Thursday afternoon we went outside into the field to practise our ball skills, throwing, catching and kicking the rugby balls before having a game of tag rugby which was very energetic and loads of fun. It was a really warm day so we all made sure to drink lots of water to keep ourselves well hydrated.
On Friday we finally managed to go on an Educational visit to Astley Park for a bit of extra exercise and it was brilliant. We spent time building in the sand pit and going on the climbing frame and slide. Hopefully the weather will stay kind to us until the end of the summer term so that we can get out lots more.
Some of our pupils from both year 11s went on a transitional visit to Newman college in Preston with staff and had a wonderful time. They were very excited but also rather nervous but each pupil said it had been great fun. Lucas in particular really enjoyed using the interactive VR headsets and can’t wait to go back for a second day at college before he starts properly in September.
Well, it is now the start of half term so I hope that we all have a well deserved rest. Stay safe everyone and fingers crossed the sun will continue to shine for us. Ms Lea. X
