Well, we can hardly believe that our Year 11’s are getting ready to leave and that this time next week they will have said their goodbyes to Astley Park as they go on to pastures anew.
This week has been filled with lots of learning through fun activities and we have spent a lot of time outside taking advantage of the fresh air and warm days to wander around the track and play energetic games such as rounders.
We have also been keeping our plants and flowers watered in the poly tunnel and some of us have even sampled some broad beans that we have grown. This has been a fantastic activity which we have all enjoyed in different ways. Some of us have enjoyed weeding and planting whilst others have enjoyed doing the watering..a great way to spend quality time together as a class team.
Eleanor has been back to visit My life again this week where she continues to learn about animal welfare and she is really looking forward to starting there full time in September.
Isaac, Amelia and Josh visited Mayfield College yesterday and they had a great time, meeting the other students, catching up with quite a few who used to study at our school and playing energetic outdoor games.
They met some of their teachers and all three are excited about starting there in September.
This morning we joined in with our Astley Park friends for the online awards ceremony which was very interesting and then we made our own sandwiches, choosing between ham and cheese , to take with us on a picnic to the park.
Once on the park some of us sat at a picnic table while others chose to sit on a picnic rug on the grass and we all really enjoyed a selection of picnic foods . As well as our sandwiches we also had cocktail sausages, sausage rolls, crisps, grapes and chocolate biscuits washed down with orange squash.
We then had a play on the equipment in the park and had a brilliant time before it was time to walk back to school.
Congratulations to Nathan for getting star of the week…well done Nathan.
Have a great weekend everyone. Stay safe. Ms Lea. X
