Last week was a very arty week in 9R as we looked at the seasons and in particular Autumn and all of the beautiful Autumnal colours that we are beginning to see on the trees and bushes around school.

We made some really lovely stained glass backgrounds using coloured paper of various hues and with a black paper tree stuck in front of the coloured paper these look gorgeous stuck up at the window.

With the sun shining through in the afternoons the coloured patterns on the carpet look absolutely stunning and very dramatic and they have been admired by other pupils and staff many times.

9G also used lots of various textured materials in Autumnal colours to create different and unique collages, depicting the season of Autumn.
Before making these collages we looked outside at the trees which are just beginning to turn into browns, reds and oranges and we also used our iPads to find other trees of similar colours before discussing our favourite seasons and why we like a particular one.

As well as spending some very enjoyable afternoons working on our art and craft skills we also did lots of maths assessments, English and history.

We began to discuss Black history  as October is Black history month and we spent time researching Rosa Park and Nelson Mandela to see how they both changed the course of history in their own way.  We will carry on reading about, and discussing , other prominent black people who have changed history for the better.

So, a very busy but equally very enjoyable week in 9R.

Take care, Ms Lea.
