What a busy week 10R have had!
On Monday we continued or topic of forces in science with Miss Anderton, where we made paper helicopters to look at how gravity works and how we can affect gravity by adding weight to something to make it fall faster.
On Tuesday we carried on looking at bar charts in Maths, where we all went out onto the staff car park and gathered data on all the different colours of the cars by tallying them up. We then put that data onto our own bar charts and looked at them to answer questions about that data we had found.
On Wednesday we celebrated Holi as a class! First we learnt the story of Prahlad and Holika, which is what the Holi celebrations are based around, and we did a cut and stick activity to sort the story into its proper order. Then we coloured some paper chains to decorate the class with before going out and participating in the Holi colour run! This was lots of fun (but very cold) and I'm sure we'll be finding powder paint for weeks!
Thursday was our community visit day, so we went as a class to McDonalds to use the touch screens and card machines as part of our ASDAN unit of Using Technology in the Community, and we all got to pick what we wanted, whether that was pancakes or a hot chocolate. Then, in the afternoon, it was time to continue with our recorder lessons for our DofE skill.
To end the week we braved the snow and went swimming at Hindley Baths, where we all did lots of lengths and got lots of exercise, and then we had golden time when we got back. A big congratulations to our Star of the Week Chloe for some fab work this week!
Hope you all have a safe weekend!
Mrs Powell, Mrs Woods and Miss Carter.
