Happy Easter holidays to everyone! I think I can speak for all of the staff in 10G when I say we are all ready for a break, we are the sure the pupils are too. Another crazily busy week this week…

On Monday, it was our last swimming session before Easter. We have found out that we will be continuing swimming after the Easter break, this time on a Wednesday morning. We will still be going to Hindley swimming pool and Paula will still be our teacher. This is brilliant news and means we can continue to build on those skills that we have already begun to work on. This week we were practicing different strokes in the pool, on our fronts and on our backs. Some of us were working on water confidence and Ty and Tyler managed to remove their pool noodles! Amazing work from everyone.

In the afternoon, we had our next session of PSHE where we were beginning our ASDAN unit of Parenting Awareness and looking at what babies need. Clayton had shared some information with us about sperm and how they live for 5 days, so we took it in turns to take part in some role play where we pretended to be a sperm up until day 5. Next, we played a game of baby bingo and named some of the items that someone might need when looking after a baby. We had a surprise impromptu visit from Mrs Clegg who had brought her beautiful baby Phoebe into school to see everyone. Lots of us enjoyed holding Phoebe and Tyler even volunteered to change her nappy when it needed changing! Mrs Clegg has very kindly said she will come back into 10G in the Summer Term to help us further with our Parenting Awareness so we are all looking forward to that.

On Tuesday, Mr Greenwood was back in class with us. Mrs Fisher and Miss Smith took Group 2 to Asda on the new silver bus where they went to the café. Back in class, Mrs Cobham, Miss Greenwood and Mr Greenwood were playing a money game with the remaining pupils where they were working out how much change they needed to give, and using real money to help them work out their answers.

Tuesday afternoon was spit between cooking in the food tech room with Mrs Fisher and Miss Greenwood, and making Easter cards in class with Mrs Cobham and Miss Smith. We are so impressed with everyone’s improvement in following a simple schedule to make something on toast. We hope you like the beautiful Easter cards that everyone has made.

On Wednesday morning, we all worked together to complete some work for Mrs Kelly and her display that she is creating in the classroom as part of her Teaching Assistant course. She wants to create a display around our school values and our class promises and wanted everyone to play a part in the display. Pupils were asked to decorate a puzzle piece that would be used on the display. You can see the finished display in our photographs at the bottom of the blog.

In the afternoon Mrs Fisher was at a home visit with Miss Della Fera, so Miss Greenwood took charge of PE and led another exhausting Bootcamp session outside. Mrs Cobham then supported everyone to make some delicious Easter Bark. We hope the Easter Bark made it home (without being eaten before it got there!) and that everyone was willing to share!

We had lots of excited pupils on Thursday morning as they were looking forward to going bowling on Thursday afternoon. Mrs Fisher, Miss Smith and Mr Greenwood took Group 3 and 4 to Asda. We all enjoyed our last visit to the café of the term and treated ourselves to a cooked breakfast. In class, Mrs Cobham, Miss Greenwood and Miss Knowles worked with pupils to finish off any outstanding work and completed their Easter cards. We ate dinner in class as usual and then it was time for bowling. Mrs Linde and Miss Anderton led the visit and pupils had a brilliant time, showing great sportsmanship and demonstrating excellent patience and waiting skills.

Friday finally arrived and again, everyone was excited again but this time for our visit to Wetherspoons for dinner. In the morning, class staff decided that they were going to give the pupils a day off and that staff were going to complete the class jobs. However, class staff decided that they were going to do this very badly and chaos quickly ensued! I’m sure if you ask your child about the silly things that happened they will be able to tell you, there was definitely a lot of loud voices and laughing for the majority of the morning and we had a lot of pupils and staff in the Yellow Zone because of this. After break time, class staff had used our photographs to make some Easter themed pictures and had hidden these around school. Pupils had to search around school to find everyone. At 11.30am, we set off in convoy walking to Wetherspoons together. The staff had kindly reserved us a long table upstairs for us to sit at. Pupils and staff thoroughly enjoyed their food and drinks and it was a lovely way to end our second term with the class.

It was Golden Time followed by Celebration Assembly when we finally returned to school. A big congratulations to our Star of the Week this week- Reece! Reece has demonstrated fantastic communication skills in a range of contexts in school this week, super work!

10G staff would like to wish 10G pupils a very Happy Easter and we hope that you all manage a well-deserved break. We will see everyone when we are back in school on Monday 17th April. Swimming will continue next half term and will now take place on a Wednesday morning, all pupils will need to bring swimming kits with them on a Wednesday.
