A short and sweet week this week in 10G, but we have still managed to get plenty done!

On Monday, we were all given our smart watches to wear when we are in school. This means that we can keep track of our steps every day. Our step target for Monday was 5000 steps before we leave school to come home. Everyone was very very excited to wear their watches and we have added a morning run into our morning routine. We have been lucky this week with the nice weather so everyone piled outside to get their steps in.
Mrs Fisher, Miss Smith and Mr Greenwood took Group 1 into town to buy some shower gel and shampoo to take to swimming this week. We worked on linking arms with a staff member when we are crossing a road to keep ourselves safe. Back in class, Jake from 10R joined Mrs Cobham and Miss Greenwood to play some social skills games.

In the afternoon, Mrs Cobham led a session on Earth Day with the class and talked about what impact global warming is having on our planet. They listened to the information and asked questions, then took part in a quiz at the end to see how they can help to take care of our planet for the future.

Everyone managed to hit their step target for the day and we were all very happy about this!

Tuesday came and we still had lots of learners who were motivated to get their steps in, so much so we had lots of people walking around the classroom in between activities to get their step count up! In the morning, Mrs Cobham, Miss Smith and Mr Greenwood took Group 2 into town to become more familiar with the shops that you can find in Chorley. They talked about safe and unsafe strangers and who they could go and ask for help from if they needed it whilst doing their shopping.
In class, Mrs Fisher and Miss Greenwood were working on some functional reading and writing PLGs including writing our name correctly, recognising words that are important to us, and answering questions about a menu.

Tuesday afternoon was cooking again and we took it in turns to go up to the Food Tech room to make pizzas again. 10G class team have been very generous and treated the class to their own washing up bowl, cloth and tea towel each! This means that we can all take responsibility for our own equipment following a cooking session and we need to make sure we are cleaning things and putting them back where we got them from. I’m sure these new resources will come in very handy in the coming weeks!

Finally on Wednesday we had swimming in the morning. Paula was very impressed with all our efforts this week, and we had a lot less moaning from everyone! We have purchased the certificates for those who have sent their money into school but forgot to hand them out yesterday before everyone left, so we will distribute them next Wednesday once everyone is back in school.

In the afternoon, we all stayed outside for most of the afternoon finishing off our step targets and playing our favourite game of the moment with the football. We were having so much fun that lots of other pupils and staff from different classes came to join us and have a go!

Hope everyone has a lovely bank holiday weekend and we will see everyone when we are back in school on Wednesday!
