A busy few weeks in 10A. We are practicing our independence living skills as we are now preparing for leaving school and moving into the adult world.

As part of this learning we have all been allocated jobs to do in class, these involve activities such as washing pots, cleaning tables before and after lunch collecting lunches. We are also helping the care takers of school by helping with the washing and drying of the school laundry.

We are also thinking about our self care skills and keeping ourselves healthy, this has involved brushing our teeth, and keeping ourselves clean with showers and using personal products such as deodarant and shower gels.

We have also been thinking about healthy food choices for snack time we have been looking at preparing fruit and Greek yoghurt and cooking healthy choices in food technology. We are also taking turns at preparing toast and making ourselves and our friends a cup of tea.

We have also thought about our lunch time and as a class we decided we would like a “family lunch” where we all sit together to eat our lunches and we use the time to chat with our friends and adults. This has also created the opportunity to practice our skills such as collecting and giving out lunches, using cutlery correctly to eat and tidying away our crockery.

We are also working towards our independent travel qualifications this has involved some of our pupils making independent journeys into the local community either by walking, bike or using the bus.

Amazing 10A you are doing amazing, keep up the hard work
