Monday 18th - Today we had our first look at picture news. We had a look at an ancient city that has been discovered in the jungle in Mexico. We all found it really interesting, we then went on to have a look at other big discoveries through history and how they impacted the world. In the afternoon we made some pom-poms and turned them into snowmen decorations. They all look great.

Tuesday 19th - Today we had our D of E carousel. We looked at the country code, learned some first aid, completed an orienteering treasure hunt and looked at what we would take in our bags on a long walk. We had a great time completing the tasks, it was a good way to see what to expect from Duke of Edinburgh.

Wednesday 20th - Today we did some maths and English work in the morning and we all worked really hard. In the afternoon we had our community visit to Asda to buy our ingredients for our food tech lesson.

Thursday 21st - This morning we had our food tech lesson, we made cheese and onion pasties. We got to have a taste in school and they went down a treat. In the afternoon we had our visit to the gym, we all made a great effort on each of the machines. The class team are really proud of how well everyone is doing at the gym.

Friday 22nd -This week we had international men’s day so today we had a look at the important men in our lives. We then chose an important man in our lives and made a card for them. In the afternoon we had golden time and celebration assembly. This weeks stars of the week were Teegan and Grace Well done girls.

Monday 25th - We started today with Picture News. The story this week is about the 'Earthshot Prize', which is a £1 million prize given to people who have done extraordinary work to help raise awareness of environmental issues around the world and help towards fixing them. The money goes towards improving and up-scaling the work that they are doing. From the photo inspiration, we decided to focus on plastic pollution and I set the class a challenge to come up with a machine that could go into the sea to catch plastic rubbish. They were very creative and well thought out! In the afternoon...

Tuesday 26th - This morning we thought more about what we wanted to achieve at Bendrigg next week. We're very excited about going and we understand it is going to be very different to a usual week in school. We looked at some of the activities we might be taking part in, Bendrigg itself and talked about what was going to be different to home. In the afternoon we headed to Asda to do our weekly shopping for our cooking lesson and we picked up a few extra bits for next week.

Wednesday 27th - We started this morning thinking about Bendrigg again, thinking about something we were looking forward to, something we were worried about (if there was anything) and what our goal for the week was going to be. In the afternoon we headed to the library, to continue our ASDAN unit on leisure time. We enjoyed spending time together, having a look at all the books and we even brought some back to school.

Thursday 28th - This morning we made spaghetti bolognaise. We are developing our independence skills by following the recipe, with fewer prompts, a making sure that we have done everything it tells us to do. It got a full set of thumbs up from everyone who tried it - and some people were even able to compare it to the spaghetti bolognaise they had for school lunch!

Friday 29th - Today we continued with our work experience around school. It's really nice to hear the positive feedback we get from the staff in the primary classes. Our learners who are working on the site spent the session designing our new outdoor quiet space that we will be working on next term. A request has been put out for anyone who can donate anything (pots/soil/seeds/flowers/shrubs/tools/etc) that we can use in the space - if you have anything please get in touch with the BST. It would be hugely appreciated! We then learned about St Andrew's Day and the reason it is celebrated. There were lots of great facts found. In the afternoon we had golden time and celebration assembly. Out star of the week this week is Joseph, for doing some great research on St Andrew's Day, learning about their traditions and how they celebrate. Well done Joseph!

Next week we are at Bendrigg on Residential - we are all very excited and can't wait to report back to you all about it!
