Children's Mental Health Week 2025 took place at Astley Park School between the 3rd -9th February 2025. This year, one of the themes is Know Yourself, Grow Yourself and aims to raise awareness and support and empower young people.
The learners watched a couple of PowerPoints to help them to understand their feelings and emotions.
The class talked about different emotions and what we could do to help ourselves to feel better. They talked about what they could do if they were feeling either sad, upset, angry, frustrated and they came up with some super ideas together themselves to make them feel better like talk to a teacher, colouring, ask for a hug and squeezing a pillow.
The children then learnt that if you look after your minds it helps us to make good choices.
If we know ourselves and know it will help to make good friends, good choices, thinking of what makes us smile, things we would like to get better at and what we are good at.
The class then had to draw a picture of themselves, then write what is special to them and think what makes them special.
We had being a good friend, being kind, nice and good, good at school work and good at their home hobbies just naming a few.
We finished off the week with a good old sing song and sang, signed and danced to “it’s good to be me”. It put a smile on EVERYONES face.
