This half term is going so quickly, the learners have been really busy with Asdan work and their other curriculum lessons.
This week started off with another visit from Lee from DWP, this week she talked about the skills the learners needed for their next steps. She asked the learners to work in groups and write down the instructions to make a jam sandwich, she said she had no common sense and they had to include everything. From unfastening the bread to cutting up the sandwich. It was a harder task than they thought but when given adult prompts they were successfully able to help Lee make her jam sandwich by giving verbal instructions.

In the afternoon the learners carried on with their ASDAN work, whilst some of them completed their independent bus journey. It is great to see the confidence in our learners grow!

On Tuesday morning Gemma went to Embellished by Emily in Whittle to do her work experience. She helped Emily mix a colour for a client and she took some foils out. She made coffee for the clients and staff and also helped clean the salon. Well done Gem!!!
The learners in school worked on angles, parallel and perpendicular lines and shapes. In the afternoon we went to All Seasons to learn more of our tennis skills, and then we played a game with 10P.

On Wednesday morning Mrs Gregory came into class talk to us about life with a new baby for the ASDAN Module Parenting Awareness. She brought in her baby boy Stanley - he was very cute and gave the biggest smiles!!!!
In the afternoon, Grace and Ollie went to Brothers of Charity to do their first week of work experience based around media - they will continue this for the next 3 weeks. Those of us left in school, learnt about forces. We learnt about pushes and pulls, looking at how we use these forces throughout the day.

On Thursday morning we went to Chorley in Bloom, some of the learners tidied up the bug hotel, some learners planted up some herbs, and the rest did some weeding in the raised beds.
In the afternoon we practiced our cooking skills again and made scrambled egg on toast, the majority of us, enjoyed the scrambled egg on toast.

On Friday morning we continued with our work experience, supporting some of the primary classes in school. The learners in class completed some stock check and delivered resources to different classes around school. After this we went onto the track and did some 80s dancing to celebrate comic relief.

In the afternoon we enjoyed golden time, and then we watched celebration assembly, this weeks star of the week is Gemma - for being absolutely incredible on her work place visit this week. She is a credit to the school and we are all so proud of her! (She even managed to bag herself a few hours weekend work)! Well done Gem!
