Week 7

In Picture News this week, the question was 'What makes a good peacekeeper?'. This question was due to the fact that it has been 80 since the formation of the UN. We talked about how we keep peace in the world, but more relevant, how we keep the peace in the classroom. We talked about how we are kind to each other, how we share things, take turns and help each other out. We also looked at the 'Rights of the Child' and what we all should have access to, according to the UN. In maths, we had a go at a practise test paper, in preparation for our exams next year. Everyone gave it their best effort. In the afternoon, we spent time with Miss Hendy, as part of our options carousel, we had a go at using the “band in your hand” to make music. We attended Chorley in bloom and helped to dismantle some of the raised flower beds and plant some more bulbs. On Friday it was Olivia’s birthday so we had a little party in the afternoon, we played some games and Olivia shared her lovely birthday cake with us.

**Star of the Week** this week is Gemma for helping her peers whilst we were shopping.

Week 8

On Monday we looked at pictures, this weeks topic was ‘ ID cards’ we talked about whether we agree with them and then designed our own ID card for school. We also looked at Diwali and made some Rangoli patterns. On Tuesday we looked at racism and showing racism the red card. We talked about different scenarios and how we deal with it. In the afternoon we took part in our last swim session of the term, we had a try at the butterfly stroke.
on Wednesday we personalised some crosses for the remembrance ceremony at memorial garden. We added poppy designs and wrote the names of fallen family or other fallen soldiers on them ready to be placed in the garden on Thursday. We then finished making our Christmas baubles for our enterprise work. On Wednesday afternoon we had our final taster session for our options. This weeks session we had a taster for humanities. We talked all about the Pendle witches and how they were treated. It was a really interesting session. On Thursday we went to the memorial garden in Chorley town centre for a remembrance ceremony, we were very respectful during the minute silence and we placed our poppies and crosses. In the afternoon we had golden time and celebration assembly.

**Star of the Week** This week is Jake, for using his regulation tools to regulate himself after a tricky afternoon.
