This week we explored Eid through tuff trays, attention autism and adult led activities.
We had a fine motor tough tray available to explore throughout our provision periods to exercise our fine motor skills through collecting the moons and stars through the big golden star using tweezers. Some of our learners found this quite challenging so also used their pincer grip to retrieve the items.

Mrs Summerfield did an Eid themed attention autism- stages 1 to 4. During our stage 1 bucket, our learners enjoyed looking at a selection of Eid related toys. Our first toy was a yellow flashing bouncy ball to resemble a shining star, the next item was a plasma light and finally we had a balloon filled with blue glitter which was popped once blown up.
For stage 2, Mrs Summerfield used a glue stick to create 5 star shapes on a black piece of paper. She then sprinkled gold glitter onto the glue to reveal the star shapes. Our learners enjoyed watching the glitter slowly fall onto the paper.

For stage 3, we did star splat. Mrs Summerfield created 5 stars using shaving foam and gold glitter. We sang a twinkle twinkle themed song and adapted it for the learners to each come and splat a star. Our learners did a brilliant job of waiting for their turn and also only splatting 1 star!

For our stage 4 activity, Miss Brown and Mrs Summerfield led a cookie decorating activity. Our learners each had a star shaped cookie and they could choose from a variety of coloured icing using a core board to decorate their cookie. We used the core board to request for icing, sprinkles and also to practise come gestalts such as ‘that looks yummy’ and ‘let’s decorate’. We again exercised our fine motor skills squeezing the icing out of the tubes and got creative making different patterns on our star.

Well done Maple class!
