On Monday morning we have been working hard on our reading skills with Miss Aindow. Later in the morning we have been learning about healthy and unhealthy foods. We had to use pictures of different foods to make a healthy lunch box. We cut out the different pictures and stuck them down. It was interesting to learn what foods are healthy and unhealthy. In the afternoon we read the story “Hansel and Gretel” and then used colourful semantics to build sentences about the story. After we had done all our hard work we had time to play in the role play area set up by Miss Albrighton. It looks like the gingerbread house from our story!
On Tuesday morning we did some maths work with Miss Albrighton while some of us did some more reading. We had an Attention Autism session and sat for “What’s in the box”. We used the session to learn about big and small. We then went into groups and used building blocks to make big and small towers. Some of us went outside and used chalk to draw big and small pictures. In the afternoon Miss Albrighton brought some ingredients for us to make our very own pizzas! We loved eating these at snack time.
On Wednesday morning we have been doing some work on our personalised learning goals (PLG’s). Most of us are working on our socialising skills. To do this we use a visual aid to choose a game and ask a peer to play with us. We are getting better at this with help from an adult. In the Afternoon Mr Murphy came in to do some yoga and fitness activities with us. We like watching Cosmic Kids on YouTube and following what they do. We also enjoyed doing a Joe Wicks activity for Children In Need. Then we made some face masks ready for Children In Need day on Friday.
On Thursday morning we did some more reading with Miss Aindow. After break time we had another Attention Autism session and sat for “What’s in the box”. We used the session to do some maths work. We had to find the Numicon shapes in the flour and then fill the holes with pompoms. This helped us to count the different numbers. In the afternoon we practiced our turn taking skills. We played lots of different games and asked our peers to join in and play with us.
Thursday was also a special day because it was Josh’s birthday! Josh kindly brought in some cake and sweets for us to enjoy at snack time. We enjoyed singing happy birthday to Josh too! Happy Birthday Josh. We hope you had a lovely day!
Friday was another special day as it was Children In Need day. To celebrate the occasion everyone came into school in their own clothes. We had lots of people in their pyjamas for a very cosy day. Some of us came into school in our own clothes. We spent the day completing Children In Need themed activities and had some choose time in the afternoon.
What a lovely week Rowan class have had.
See you on Monday for another fun filled week!
