8R have had such a busy week this week, doing lots of learning, lots of teams calls and having lots of fun!

We have been looking at our topic of tanks and trenches this week and have explored the wars in lots of different ways.

We started our week by looking at newspapers and the features we could find in them. In a few weeks, when we have expanded our knowledge of newspapers, we are going to be writing our very own newspaper report all about the war. We can’t wait to show you all our exciting and imaginative work.

We used our creativity on Thursday to create our very own war medals. We researched what different medals look like using our iPads and did a plan of what we wanted our medals to look like. Then we used lots of different materials to create our medals. We did some amazing work and they looked super!

We have had some really good teams calls this week. On Monday we enjoyed learning all about Burns day and talked about the different food we could try, like haggis. Some of us weren’t very keen on this idea! On Wednesday we had a teams call with Mr Murphy and did some super work all about our bodies. On Thursday we had our guided reading teams calls. Miss Brophy was sooooo impressed with our reading and that we’ve kept up with our reading skills that she couldn’t stop telling us all how wonderful we had done.

On Friday lots of us joined in with our celebration assembly. In 8R this week our star of the week was... KRISTEN! She has done some amazing work at home this week and sounded out some super tricky words during her guided reading. Well done Kristen.

To finish off our Friday we had a teams call with all our friends at home and Mrs Devlin was back being the quiz master, asking lots of questions about a horrible histories episode that we have watched that was all about world war 1.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
