This week 9R have taken over the blog. We have learned about WW2, read some of our class read “A medal for Leroy” by Michael Morpurgo. We have used our iPads to learn about Well-being and Social Media and taken part in the 6 star challenge.

Over to 9R

This week is mental health week and we have talked about how we feel every morning in our nurture group. We have explored social media and how it can affect our feelings and our wellbeing. We looked at social media we each used and then we talked about other activities we can do that doesn’t use a phone or iPad and we came up with some great ideas including helping with jobs at home, drama club, scouts, going for a walk and spending time with your family. I enjoyed doing Miss Troughton exercise routine in the teams call it made me feel relaxed.

On Tuesday morning we looked at the first part of War Horse and answered some questions. In the afternoon we had a teams call with our friends. We did a quiz and an activity where we passed a kindness box around and said something positive about each other - it made me feel good. Afterwards we had a chat with our friends before home time.

On Wednesday it was my birthday. I had an Arabian Derby cake. Everyone sang happy birthday. On Thursday I read a story to my friends “I took the moon for a walk.” I went to the sensory room and did “what’s in the box” and I like the swing.

On Thursday we worked together to make a rainbow. Our rainbow was about being kind and things you can do for your well-being. I enjoyed sitting with my friends and chatting while we coloured. We did some work about War Horse about how Albert the boy was feeling.

On Thursday we watched Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang because we have been learning about evacuees. It was a really good film. I think the children who were evacuated in the war to the countryside would have felt sad, worried and scared because they would miss their family, but they would have been safe away from the bombs. I liked writing about Albert and how he was feeling. I think Albert was very brave to go to war to find his horse Joey and I really like this story.

Malachi, Sam, Thomas, Sarah and Faith have joined us in our teams sessions which has been good for everyone’s wellbeing.

Sam has been busy learning about WW2, he has watched War Horse and tried morse code decoding

Thomas has had a very busy week, he has been working extremely hard and has gained his silver in this weeks 6 star challenge in addition to all the work he has completed - well done Thomas.

Malachi gained a bronze six star challenge for last week - well done.

This weeks Stars of the Week are Rebecca, Callum and Malachi - well done.

Remember to upload any work to EFL or email it to staff so we can see the great work you’ve been doing. If anyone wants to write about what they have been doing at home email it to staff before Thursday so it can be included in the blog.
