This week, Maple class have learned that Eid is a festival celebrated by Muslims around the world. The children watched carefully as Miss Hothersall shook powder paint over shapes to reveal the crescent star and moon symbol of Islam. We helped the children to understand that Eid is a celebration by decorating biscuits and talking about special times.
The children have been extremely busy this week with all things mermaid! Everyone has enjoyed following instructions to make mermaid potions and communicating requests to make biscuits. The children have explored their creative sides making mermaids with fancy tails and making sparkly tails to transform our dolls into mermaids. The children have had lots of practice at pouring their own drinks with surprisingly few spillages!
We have practiced mindfulness in the classroom today by closing our eyes and listening to under the sea music and watching relaxing mermaid scenes paying attention to what we could see and hear.
Another busy week in Maple class!
