10G had a fantastic time on Wednesday afternoon. The instructors discussed with us how to stay safe on the water whilst canoeing and we got dressed into the safety clothes to ensure we would be okay whilst on the water. We helped one another to put the canoes in the water and got the chance to go on Bassinthwaite lake. We then practised our rowing skills first and went across the lake. Then we got to play some ball games and splash one another which was a lot of fun. Alex and Mrs Clegg got a bit to excited and capsized which they found very funny! Then at the end of our session we got to all jump into the lake and have a swim and a splash together. This was a lot of fun and we loved splashing all of our teachers! Then in the evening we got to go to the tuc shop and choose a drink and a snack. We then watched the football match together. We really enjoyed watching the match especially as England won. And more importantly we were able to stay up very late!
On Thursday morning we all put out harnesses and helmets on and went to the high ropes assault course. We were all a little nervous at first to be climbing high above the ground but persevered and we all completed it as a team. We particularly liked climbing across the wooden bridge and swinging on the ropes. Then when we had completed the high ropes course we got to all go on the zip wire down the hill. We went very fast through the trees and all absolutely loved it! In the afternoon some of us slept in the bus on the way to the bike track. When we got there we all got to go on a bike around the track, practise our steering and balance skills and learnt how to use it safely. Then we went for a bike ride around the old air field twice which we really enjoyed. Our legs were very tired by the end of the afternoon. In the evening we got to play basketball, bowling and play games with the parachute in the sports hall. We also had a dance to some music to celebrate our final evening at Calvert Trust. We then went to the tuc shop to choose some souvenirs to take home with us.
On Friday we packed our things up and played in the games room whilst we waited for our bus to arrive. Then on the way back to school we stopped off at the Rheged centre and had a picnic outside. Then Miss Robertson treated all of us to an ice cream as a well done for being so good at Calvert Trust. Well done 10G, we all had a super holiday together!
