This week the children have returned and given us some amazing maths and English work.
pin maths this week we have been looking at measurement . The children have used different tools and ways to measure different objects around the room ….. including our FRIENDS !!!! The children then looked at what an estimate is . The whole class made some brilliant estimates of how many cubes each object could be. The children then recorded their estimates and checked then recorded their results. They did so well and we had some really close estimates.
In English we had a look at speech and though bubbles . The children looked at some pictures and scenes with different characters involved. They discussed in pairs and small groups what they think the characters could be saying or thinking . The children had to remember that when words are in a speech bubble or thought bubble they don’t need to write ‘I think that the bird is saying’. We then moved onto making posters . We choose to write a poster asking people not to drop litter. The children used big bold lettering and bright colours to catch peoples attention. They was able to also add in some punctuation for added effect e.g exclamation marks and question marks .
In Me and my body this week we have discussed our choices . We are all in charge of our own body and choices that we make. The children learnt about appropriate space and touch. The children all had different ideas about what is ok for them and how they feel about people in their space . We talked about respecting our friends choices and requests . For example if a friend was to say ‘you are too close’ , we should respect that and give them space.  The children all them received a body map and was asked to colour in 3 colours of of sage touch e.g shoulder  , friends and family e.g hand shakes , arms for hugs , and parts of the body that are private.  Each child had slightly different opinion but all understood private body parts .
On Thursday we had some fun doing some origami . The children followed instructions how to make some paper aeroplanes and decorate them . Once all the planes were built and ready to fly we took to the cage to give them their first flight. It was brilliant all the children build their planes to perfection and each one had a good flight , although the landings got a little rough with the weather haha .
On Friday with Miss Troughton we used the boomwackers to follow a rhythm. We created some amazing music. Well done !

Have a lovely weekend .
