Whilst we are still getting to know the learners, the class has played some board games. On the board games, there were ‘tricky words’ that had to be read out to their partner when they landed on that square. The staff were very impressed with how good their reading and word memory from last year was!
The kahoot that we played was related to the ‘tricky words’ activity. The class had to match the correct word/spelling to a picture. Again, everyone tried really hard.
9A showed Miss Buck how good they were at Maths. They did this by playing a maths board game and completed lots of math sums.
We also quickly looked at what they will be working on later on in the term to give the learners an insight on what is to come. Some of the class shared their knowledge of shopping skills and others researched the Victorians.
We made some witches and wizards wands with Mrs Mahood this week. We all went outside to find a stick and had to make sure that it wasn’t too big by measuring it using a 30cm ruler. We used a glue gun safely with help from Miss Berry and then painted them once they were dry.
We baked some cakes for the MacMillan coffee morning and used great teamwork in making sure we got the recipes just right. We had lots of fun decorating the cakes and we were super happy to hear that the school has raised lots of money for the this amazing charity.
This week our first group of swimmers attended Hindley swimming pool and all staff were super pleased with how well the children swam and we were so proud of how well the children represented us as a school.
Finally, we have also had some additions to our outdoor area in 9A with a brand new mud kitchen, trampoline and water feature, all thanks to Miss Buck! The learners have had lots of fun using these together.
Enjoy your weekend
