We combined three special occasions within this weeks learning, enabling our learners the opportunity to experience and explore recent key events - Macmillan Coffee Morning, celebrating the life of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and honouring our new King, King Charles III.
On Thursday, we explored making cakes and we all had the opportunity to freely explore tools used when baking. Many of our learners chose to engage within our baking activity and experienced pouring, mixing and scooping with the help of Miss Masterson. We even had a few cheeky tasters along the way - it’s safe to say they enjoyed what they were making!
On Friday, we started our day with an Attention Autism and Miss Cross used key vocabulary including ‘King’ and ‘crown’. Chestnut learners all them had the opportunity to make their own crown, ready for our royal celebration tea party snack in the afternoon.
In the afternoon we sang ‘5 currant buns’ in group before a special delivery of some cakes from the Macmillan stalls in the hall. We were each given a cake to freely explore through sight, touch, smell and taste, while enjoying a royal tea party honouring our new King and celebrating the life of Queen Elizabeth II.
Great work Chestnut Class!
