9A cooking activity this Tuesday was of course pancakes!

Miss Buck spilt the class into two halves.

One group joined Ms Carter and Miss Howarth in the food tech room.

They had to read the instructions about how to make a delicious pancake.

The learners weighed out the flour, milk and added these ingredients to a large jug where they added the eggs and a little oil. They took turns in whisking the mixture into a batter.

With staff support, they put a little oil in a pan over a medium heat and poured a little of the batter mixture to the pan. We opened all the windows, so no smoke alarms went off! Then fried for about a minute. Then they used a spatula to flip the pancakes over.

The other group stayed in class with Miss Buck, Miss Berry and Miss Howden. They looked at a PowerPoint to learn about Shrove Tuesday and Lent. The pupils were shocked to learn that Pancake Day is also known as Shrove Tuesday. They also learnt about how pancakes are served in each country of the UK and the traditions around this special day in each country.

Then the groups swapped over.

When the groups were all back in class, they added some delicious toppings to their pancakes. They had a choice of sugar, lemon, golden syrup and nutella.

Throughout the activities, they all worked well as a team, always helping each other.

Well done to you all!
