What an amazing time 7P had on our Residential to the Anderton Centre.

On Tuesday when we arrived we went to our rooms, unpacked our cases and then made our beds. We then went off on our first adventure - low ropes and climbing. We worked alongside the adults to keep our balance on the low ropes and even tried a challenge of carrying around a bean bag at the same time! This was very tricky but we all tried hard. Whilst climbing we practiced our problem solving by looking for the best route to climb up the wall and where we could put our hands and feet. We had a lovely first evening meal and then played some team games before bed.

On Wednesday we had a water day! In the morning we went in canoes. This was quite tricky as we had to remember to move our paddles at the same time so that we would move in the right direction. With a little help from the safety boats we got to the correct place and played some games where we had to collect balls into our boats. We also had a go at standing up in the canoe if we were brave enough. We had lunch and in the afternoon those of us that wanted to went on a paddleboard. Paddling was even harder on this but we did very well and were first to make it to the correct spot. We played some more games and some of us even had a go at feeling how cold the water was. We had our evening meal and those of us that wanted to went to a disco and played some games while the rest of us went to bed early or chilled out.

On Thursday we started the morning with orienteering and archery. We made our way around the Anderton centre looking for symbols by using a map. We worked in small groups and tried hard to focus on where the symbols could be hidden. We had until the whistle went to make it back to the base. We moved on to Archery. This was tricky for some of our co-ordination skills. We worked hard on holding the bow in the correct place and then putting on the arrow making sure it was safe. We then let go to aim for the target. Some of the children had a very good shot. We had a little competition after we had practiced!

On Thursday afternoon we went back on the water and chose to try some of the different water activities. We could either go in a canoe, kayak or on a paddle board. The kayaks were most popular and we could move quickly in the small space we were paddling in. Some of us had go on a smaller paddleboard on our own or with an instructor which was fun! We also had some fun watching the adults have a little competition to see who could run around the paddleboards! Towards the end of the session some children and adults had a go at jumping into the water. It was very cold but fun at the same time! We had our evening meal and then some of us opted to attend the Bush Craft session where we toasted marshmallows and some popcorn was made. Some of us were very tired from the water activities so opted to go to bed!

On Friday our final activity was a crate stack. We worked in pairs to stay as balanced as we could on the crates while our friends worked together to add more on top. We did really well at this and had lots of laughs when it fell over. Some children then challenged themselves by having a go at the leap of faith. The children then followed climbing up the tree as high as they felt comfortable and then letting go and swinging between the trees. It was then time for lunch before we headed back to school.

7P had a wonderful week and really challenged themselves to try activities they thought they would never do. We are so proud of you all and hope you enjoy looking back at the photos from the week!
