Happy Friday, hasn’t it been a strange week this week?! We hope that everyone had a lovely half term break.
Thank you so much for sharing holiday news with us, due to the changes with school’s opening this week we will be using this information for our lesson next Tuesday so no need to provide weekend news this week.
A massive thank you to you all for being so accommodating this week with all the changes, we are very appreciative of this.
On Tuesday, lots of us joined the class Teams call to catch up and chat about our Halloween plans. As the disco has been postponed, this meant that lots of you got to go Trick or Treating instead which is great. We hope that everyone can come to the disco now next Tuesday and support with the fundraising for our Year 11 prom. Year 11 pupils do not need to purchase a ticket for the event as they will be helping with various aspects during the course of the disco. We played a scavenger hunt game together on Teams where everyone took turns to name an object, then we all had to run away and find the object in our houses.
On Wednesday, we all met again on Teams. This time we played some “Would you rather…?” games and then Mrs Cobham had very kindly made her own food quiz. She read out a list of clues and then everyone had to work out which food she was describing, then go and locate it in their houses and bring it back to the call. We looked at the work that we had been set to complete at home and then had a quick catch up before saying goodbye. Thank you to those who completed their work, we were really impressed with the natural artwork that was submitted.
Thankfully, school was back up and running on Thursday morning, so everyone was back in class together. It is safe to say that quite a few of the learners in 11G were not keen on being back in school so we spent most of the morning regulating and getting back into routine. Danny and Tyler very kindly ran the café for us and we are trialling using order numbers to help with our listening skills. Once an order has been cooked, the order number will be shouted and it is up to the person who ordered the food to listen for their number and come and collect their food. We also decorated the classroom for Halloween and will leave this up until the disco next Tuesday.
In the afternoon, we finally got to carve our pumpkins for our class competition! We split into 3 teams and worked together to scoop out the insides, decide on a design, then carve their design onto their pumpkin. Here is the link for you to vote for your favourite pumpkin: https://padlet.com/fisherh9/11g-pumpkin-carving-competition-eae5oxd1qnyzb93y
Click on the heart underneath your favourite pumpkin to register your vote. Voting will close at 9am on Monday morning and the team with the most votes will win.
On Friday morning Mr Murphy was in class working on our ASDAN module of Technology in the Home and Workplace. In the afternoon, Mrs Mahood very kindly let us borrow Holiday Heroes’ Nintendo Switch for us to use in Golden Time so we had lots of fun challenging our friends on Mario Kart, Mario Party and Just Dance.
11G’s Star of the Week this week is Danny! Danny is our Star of the Week this week for his excellent teamwork on Thursday afternoon. He took the lead during our pumpkin carving competition, using brilliant communication skills to give instructions to his teammates and delegate jobs to them. Well done Danny!
Have a lovely weekend and we will see everyone for a much more settled week on Monday! Don’t forget, swimming on Monday morning so please send in kit and shampoo/shower gel.
