Ration baking in 8A
In our food technology lesson this week we had to use food that was rationed. We explained to 8A that in the 1st and 2nd World War, certain foods were unable to be purchased, so when making meals, some ingredients couldn’t be used because of being in short supply.
This week in 8A eggs were in short supply! (Oh no!) We didn’t have any eggs to make our chocolate cake, so we made an eggless chocolate cake.
8A did brilliant sharing in weighing, adding and stirring all the ingredients together.
As it was an old recipe, the measurements were in imperial and showed the weight in ounces. We had to use the iPad to convert the imperial measurements to metric, and we found out that there is 0.0353 ounces in 1 gram.
Again, the class used our school values when adding the ingredients and mixing it all together.
Considering there were no eggs added to this chocolate cake, it tasted quite nice.
Hope you enjoyed your slice at home.
Hope you have a great weekend
From 8A team.
