Well, it feels like a very long time ago now, but on Friday 21st June a group of Year 10 and 11 learners had the very exciting opportunity to take part in an escape room activity and then camp on the school field over night.
We started the fun by erecting the tents (which is much more complicated than it looks!). A massive thank you to Mrs Goonan’s son, John for volunteering his time to come in school and helping us to put the tents up. Then we played out on the field and made the most of the wonderful sunshine.
We all chose what we would like to eat for our tea and Mr Crofts and Miss Bilsborough very kindly went and collected our food from the takeaway. When everyone was sat eating their tea it was the quietest that everyone was all night!
It was finally time for the escape room activities. 11G went first and then it was 10A’s turn. They were split into two groups, one went into the training suite and the other into Oak’s classroom. They had to communicate with each other via the walkie talkies and help those in Oak’s classroom to find the code to let them out. Then in the final room they had to work together as one big team to crack the code to the safe and find the prize. A very big thank you to Mr Murphy for being the brains behind the activities, we all had lots of fun working together as a team and escaping!
The rest of the evening consisted of watching the Euros on the screen and some scary ghost stories that everyone enjoyed listening to. We all made it into our tents at 1am and then everyone was up and raring to go before 6am!
There was rain overnight so it was a tricky job trying to take the tents down and find somewhere to hang them safely to dry off over the weekend. We had a brilliant team of young people who took charge of making bacon butties for everyone before it was time to be collected and go home.
We hope that by this point, everyone has finally caught up on all the sleep that they missed!
