Yesterday afternoon 7A hosted their summer term Sharing our Learning. Parents were invited into class to join us for a ‘Potions Class’ lesson. In ‘Potions Class’ we have been exploring the properties of materials and grouping them by category and features.

This afternoon, our lesson was focussed on ‘Floating and Sinking’ which was a new concept for 7A. We started the lesson by introducing our families so that we knew who was in class with us for the afternoon. Next, we played a prediction game of ‘floating and sinking’ and our family teams made predictions on whether they thought an item would sink or float. Nathan and his parents got full marks for their predictions, scoring 6/6 - amazing!

After our game, our family teams were set a teamwork challenge to build a boat that we would test before the end of the lesson. Our families worked extremely well together and 7A were able to show off their collaborative working skills that we have been developing since September. All boats were a success and floated on the water holding our little Paddington Bear (even though a couple had a little twist and turn in the water). It was hard to tell who had more fun building the boats, 7A learners or their adults!

A big thank you to our parents and carers who were able to join us.
