This week we started our new maths topic, position and direction. We have been looking at the directions of turns, starting with left and right, moving onto clockwise and anti-clockwise. Some of us have also been looking at the position of coordinates and labelling what they have seen. In English, we are still writing our stories. They are getting to novel size!
On Monday afternoon, we learnt the names of some Spanish foods. We also looked up the Spanish translation for our favourite foods. We also learnt about what life is like in late adulthood (sorry to say some of our learners believed their parents are currently in 'late adulthood'!!!)
On Tuesday afternoon, we continued to learn how to play recorders. We used the notes B A G again to play a short tune.
On Wednesday afternoon, we had our weekly visit to Haigh Hall. The weather was kind to us again and we were able to sit at the picnic benches near the walled garden to have lunch. It really is lovely to get out altogether.
On Thursday morning, we headed into town to find some bargains. We needed to top up the snack box again (a weekly task!) and we were looking for the best deal on our usual favourites. The learners all did amazingly well using their communication skills with each other and members of shop staff, using their maths to work out the best deals and working on their navigational skills to get us from shop to shop. On Thursday afternoon we celebrated our learners in our Secondary Awards. It was such a great afternoon, with all our learners receiving at least 1 award for their work and efforts this year.
On Friday morning, it was work experience again. It is so lovely to hear each and every week how helpful our learners have been in the primary classes. It does make us all so proud. We then enjoyed the sunshine whilst we played rounders on the field - we're getting lots of practise in ready for our Sharing Our Learning event that we have coming up! In the afternoon we had golden time and celebration assembly. Our Star of the Week this week is Olivia for doing some fantastic walking this week and having a positive outlook! Well done Olivia!
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
