We have had another very busy week this week in 10P! On Monday morning we started off the week with Newsround, where everyone is really improving on remembering what has happened and being able to tell the class something they remember. After this, Miss Wilkins and Miss Carter ran some learning games in class whilst Mrs Cobham took Sophia out to carry on with her work place visits at the local nursery.
This week we have also started a fun game with Mr John, one of our site supervisors, called 'Clyde and Seek' where we take in turns to hide Clyde (our class gorilla) and see who can find it first. We've been having lots of fun trying to find it and to come up with some good hiding places.
On Monday afternoon we learnt about Martin Luther King Jr. and about who he was and what he did as it was MLK day. We learnt about how he fought for civil rights in the US and we read some of his famous 'I have a dream' speech. We then each had a think about what dreams we would like for the world, where we had some lovely answers e.g. 'My dream is for everyone to be happy'.
We started Tuesday with some maths in the morning where we have been learning how to sequence numbers. After this we split into two groups and this week it was the boys turn to do food tech where they were making potato fritters. The girls stayed in class with Mrs Cobham and worked on It's Good to be Me. In the afternoon we headed to the gym where we carried on learning about hockey, including how to hold the stick and dribble the balls as well as shooting at a goal.
On Wednesday morning it was time for a visit to Runshaw college. After we arrived and signed in we headed round the back to the Foundation building. We met Karan Bamber, the head of the department, and she took us on a tour of the campus showing us all the key places and, most importantly, where to get food. We talked about what college was like and even ran into some old pupils who told us about how they were enjoying college. In the afternoon we had an introduction to personal safety and had a class discussion about what devices we use and what apps we use on those devices.
It was time for swimming on Thursday morning where everyone did a really good job and everyone is really improving. In the afternoon we did a little bit of work on Phonics and then we carried on at looking at Personal safety, this time looking at the things that could be dangerous in a garden and how we could make it safer or keep ourselves safe.
On Friday morning everyone worked on doing a practice English paper so we could assess them and see where they were up to so we know where we need to help our learners do the best work they can. After a very intense morning, we had a lovely golden time where everyone got a shout out for doing such a good job for their first try at an exam and our star of the week was Millie!
We hope everyone has a lovely weekend! See you on Monday!
