We started this week on Monday with a breathing activity as it’s Children’s Mental Health week this week and we wanted to do something that is good for us. Then it was maths where continued to look at the months of the year. In the afternoon we were working on our road safety and we all went up to Devonshire Rec park for a chance to play together and practice crossing roads safely.
On Tuesday Tig and Chris carried on with their work experience at Booths, where this week they were working in the fresh produce section and were looking at what fruits and vegetables are in season in which months and then we went down on to the shop floor where we helped the green grocer to look through the fruit and veg to see if anything could be put in the to good to waste boxes. For those left at school they were looking at some activities related to mental health which Mrs Cobham has written a blog about - https://astleypark.lancs.sch.uk/blog/2025-02-07-14-37-00-10p-know-yourself-grow-yourself
In the afternoon we went to Chorley Leisure centre where we carried on playing hockey and then joined with 10A to play a big game of scarecrow tig which everyone really enjoyed.
On Wednesday we had newsround in the morning followed by maths, where some of us were doing a practice paper and the rest of us were working on number bonds to 10 in class. In the afternoon Luca and Chris headed to Brothers of Charity with Mrs Cobham to start some work experience there; they’re working on their IT skills to hopefully make their own podcast at the end of the experience. Those of us left in class did some work on puberty and SRE with Mrs Powell.
On Thursday we did our usual swimming in the morning and in the afternoon we had a bit of mix. Some of us were doing phonics, some see-and-learn and some of us had practice papers to catch up on. After this we did some work on online safety and personal information, with some pupils from St. Michaels joining to help us out.
On Friday we went to Newman college in the morning where the learners all made some cupcakes with the staff. In the afternoon we had lots of work to catch up on, including some ASDAN about how to keep safe in the bathroom.
A big well done to our star of the week Luca for having a great first week at Brothers of Charity!
We hope everyone has a lovely weekend! From the 10P team!
