Another busy week for10A this week. On Monday morning Lee from the DWP came in for session 2 of our workshop. She talked about strengths people need to do their jobs, we discussed the strengths we have and completed a worksheet to show the strengths we have and use daily.

Picture News this week was about making connections, we looked at who we have connections with in our lives. The learners created a connections web to help them reflect upon and appreciate the people around them who are important to them.
In the afternoon some of us went to Tesco for shopping for snack and then practiced catching the bus back for our independence skills. The rest of the learners caught up on their Asdan work.

Tuesday was a funny day as some of the learners couldn’t make it into school because of traffic and transport issues.
For science week we looked at animals and their features. Learners had to match animals to their feet and then match it with the description.

The pupils also did an experiment looking at colours, the learners had to choose a colour and then cool out in the bottom of some kitchen roll. Then they dipped them in water to see if it changed colour. It was very surprising.
In the afternoon we went to All Seasons to practice some more tennis skills.

On Wednesday morning some learners went to Tesco in Leyland on the bus, they had a list for the cooking ingredients we need for our food tech lesson.
In the afternoon we went to the library to either renew or change our library books.

On Thursday we had our first visit to Chorley in bloom. The ladies who volunteer at Chorley in Bloom introduced themselves and showed us the different equipment we use and how to use it safely. Some of us were tidying the gardens, some of us planted some rhubarb, and some of us picked our own sprouts. We got to take the sprouts back to school with us.

On Thursday afternoon, we made pasta. Some of us chose a tomato sauce and some of us chose a carbonara sauce. We also put some garlic bread in the oven to have with our pasta. We also washed and cooked our sprouts that we got from Chorley and bloom.

On Friday morning we continued with our work experience, helping support the primary classes and then the other group sorted through primary cupboards and helped deliver equipment to the classes. Some of us also delivered equipment to Mrs Williams for the colour run.

In the afternoon we enjoyed “Holi festival” and participated in the colour run. Some of our parents visited and we all threw paint at each other, and there was lots of music and dancing. We all had a great time!
