Hello everyone, please enjoy this blog to help you learn about the religion of Judaism. Joseph in Willow class helped Miss Riley to create this blog by reminding of key words and choosing which pictures to add. I hope you enjoy learning about this religion.

What is Judaism?

Judaism is a religion that's celebrated by Jewish people and is over 4,000 years old. Jews believe that there is one God and that he spread his message through special chosen people called the prophets.

Where do they practice their religion?

The synagogue is a building where Jews go to worship God. The word synagogue means ‘meeting place’ in Greek.

What is the name of the Jewish Holy book?

The Jewish holy text is the Torah, which is written in the language of ancient Hebrew.

What values does Judaism teach?

Looking after your family is very important to Jewish people.  Shabbat (the Jewish day of rest), family meals and festivals are very important, as is helping others. Charity and giving to people in need is also part of Jewish culture so Many Jewish homes have at least one charity box. Adults in the family will put money in the box regularly to help others in need.

Do they have any special days or festival?

Important Jewish festivals include Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year), Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement), Passover and Hannukah, the festival of lights.
