Happy New Year everyone!
8A have had a fantastic start to the new year. We thought you might like to know all about our new theme, "Our Planet" and what we will be learning about this term.
My Communication
In My Communication this half term, Mrs Crouch will be helping us to write some persuasive writing about how we can protect our beautiful planet. We will be thinking about key themes such as the importance of recycling and using less non-renewable energy where possible. After half term, we will be learning about different cultures around the world through stories from around the world. Please keep reading weekly at home with your child using their home reading pack. Lots of us are focusing on learning to read and write high frequency words at the moment to help us confidently read a wider range of texts independently.
My Thinking and Problem Solving
With Mrs Fisher, we will be using our number and measurement skills to help us with a special DT project. Keep an eye on the blog on Evidence for Learning to find out more!
Personal, Social Development and Life Skills
In our Personal, Social Development and Life Skills sessions we will be learning all about recycling and gardening. Some of us will be getting out in the community to help clear any rubbish from the local parks and roads, recycling what we can from our findings, whilst others will be helping improve our school community by planting some beautiful plants.
We will also be thinking about how we can keep ourselves safe in our local community and in our online community.
My Creativity
We will be making sculptures, collages and music this term in My Creativity.
Me and My Body
In Me and My Body we will be using our gymnastics skills to move like animals from around the world during Spring 1, before moving on to some outdoor adventurous activities in Spring 2. We will also be learning about how we can keep our bodies physically healthy, thinking about how medicines can help us and the importance of sleep and moving our bodies daily.
The World About Me
This term we will be engaging in "My Travel Training" to help us become more independent when travelling around the local community, mainly focusing on our road safety skills. We will also be learning about habitats around the world, brining in some Spanish skills to talk about these too. How exciting!
Next week is World Religion Week in school and we will be using this special week to learn all about Sikhism.
Make sure you keep checking Evidence for Learning each Friday to see our fantastic work.
