This week, the school has been celebrating Chinese New Year and this year it’s the year of the Rabbit.
The class watched a PowerPoint on how the Chinese signs were created. After they had watched the slides, they made their own Chinese rabbit using paint, card and wax crayon. As well, the class has been doing Chinese new year themed mindful colouring in nurture time.
As it’s Chinese New Year week, 9A’s cooking activity was making vegetable spring rolls. The shopping group on Monday went and bought the ingredients.
They bought carrots, green beans, spring onions, soy sauce, rice noddles and filo pastry.
On Tuesday, the class made “Ms Carter’s home made Vegetable Spring Rolls”.
The learners chopped up the vegetables very finely and followed Ms Carter’s cooking instructions. The smell of the vegetables, rice noddles and soy sauce cooking was amazing.
When the mixture was cooked, the class then used the filo pastry to roll the mixture inside to make their own vegetable spring rolls.
Staff lightly fried them and the class ate them in afternoon snack time.
They went down a storm, hence why some of the spring rolls didn’t make their way home. Definitely a recipe to make again.
