This week saw some of us continuing with addition and subtraction in maths, looking at how to break down word problems so solve the questions. Some of us worked on multiplication and division, using written methods to find the answers.
In English, we have been writing letters to local garden centres, requesting donations so that we can create a quiet space outside our classroom. We thought about what we would say and how we would persuade them to donate things to our school.
On Monday afternoon, we made a beautiful poppy wreath with Mrs Mahood. We even did some sewing, to sew the buttons onto our poppies.
Tuesday saw us heading to Asda as usual, just to top up our snacks as we aren't cooking again this week.
On Wednesday morning we had a visit from Gemma's mum and their 2 gorgeous daschund puppies, Theo and Hugo. They were so playful and we loved having them in class. We can't wait to see them grow up! For lunch, we visited Calico Lounge in town. Our ASDAN topic is 'Making the most of leisure time' and we are certainly doing that. We enjoyed tapas for lunch before heading back to school.
On Thursday morning, we visited Myerscough College. It was really great to see our learners walking around, taking everything in! I wonder if any of us will go there after Astley Park! In the afternoon, we visited the gym again. We learnt from last week to not go so hard on the machines, as last week some of us had sore legs the day after!
On Friday, we continued our theme of learning about festivals around the world. Today we learnt about 'Dia de los muertos', Day of the Dead. We talked about how people celebrate this festival and how it is a happy time, thinking about memories of people that have passed. In the afternoon we watched Coco.
Our star of the week this week was Ben, for being sensible at the gym whilst suffering with an injury - you didn't go too hard on the machines! Well done Ben!
