Last Thursday was our first history day of the year and all primary phase classes learnt about the Victorians.
Willow class learnt all about what it was like to be a child in the Victorian era, looking at Victorian schools and workhouses for children. The children loved learning about all the gruesome punishments and comparing how different school is now in comparison. Children looked at what inventions have changed the way school classrooms look, and how lessons have changed. We were very happy we didn’t have a Victorian snack time after looking at the plain foods that they would eat.
In the afternoon with Miss Troughton, Willow class were very lucky to have a special visitor in school who brought lots of Victorian artefacts to explore. The children got to see how technology has advanced through time and how hard simple jobs were back in the Victorian era. Later the children created some Victorian pencil art back in class during art and creativity.
