It has been another super week in 9G.

This week we have worked hard on our reading and writing. 9G tried out using colourful semantics on the iPads, creating sentences about our story Star in the Jar. We really enjoyed doing it this way and will be using the iPads to help us going forward. We have also been practicing our writing and spelling of key words from the sight reading stories, and memorable words that we like.

We have continued with our number work, recognising amounts, adding on 1 or 2 and working on addition of 1 digit numbers. We are trying really hard with this, and are getting used to using objects to help us when we are stuck.

This week we have focused on Diwali as a celebration. We have made our own Rangoli patterns practicing our cutting skills, selecting colours, and sticking them onto a paper plate. We have also made our own Diva Lamp images with Mr Murphy, and used sand to decorate some other Rangoli Patterns. We also watched Miss Hendy do an attention autism session with lots of colourful lights, fire work painting and making her own Rangoli pattern.

9G have done lots of good work around turn taking this week, playing some group games with our friends. We really enjoyed spending time with our friends doing this, and we have also enjoyed taking part in some chosen activities that we enjoy too.

We have been learning about light and dark/ night and day this week. We have spoken about when we do certain activities - the day time or night time - and we have explored the dark den some more with some light up objects, talking about the changes we saw.

Thursday afternoon as part of Me and My body, we spent some time learning more about our engines. We did some of our favourite dances which made our engines a bit fast, and then we explored different activities that can slow down our engines. We all tried a variety of things and showed that not everyone is the same! Well done 9G!

9G have had such a super week that, this afternoon we are having a treat of strawberries, cream and meringue!

Well done 9G!
