This week Oak Class have moved away from Little Mermaid and have moved to looking at Hansel and Gretel. This week:
- In My Communication we have explored a new sensory story, exploring the props to help our understanding. We have practiced our reading and writing skills through colourful semantics and writing in breadcrumbs and enjoyed taking on different roles in our new role play area which is a sweet shop.
- In The World About Me lessons have been helping the witch from the story make foods for Hansel and Gretel. This week we have made pizza wraps and followed instructions to help us make them independently. We had to squirt the tomato purée on the wraps, sprinkle on the cheese and then choose the toppings for our pizzas. We really enjoyed these for snack!
- we have also in our World About Me lessons looked at making our own bird feeders. We used cardboard tubes rolled in lard and bird seed and walked down into the forest to hang them up.
- In My Community we watched Miss Curry deliver an attention autism in which we talked about the forrest where the story is set. We then took turns to help Miss Curry decorate a gingerbread house. We then went into groups to play games linked to our story.
- In Our Me and My Body lessons we have taken turns on the new climbing frame which was very exciting! We are being very brave and really enjoyed the climbing wall to expand our gross motor skills.
- In My Creativity with Miss Troughton we have watched her make a gingerbread house and used different materials to decorate our own houses. We used straws, different coloured paints, paper, cardboard and paper plates.
- In our My Thinking and Problem Solving lessons some of us have been practicing number recognition, using Numicon to help us. We have also used sweets from our sweet shop to help boost our understanding of addition and subtraction. What a tasty problem solving lesson!
