What a busy week for Willow class!
This week was world religion week and our religion to explore was Hinduism! We looked at two Hindu celebrations- Divali and Holi. In class we learnt about the story behind Divali, the story of Rama and Sita. We learnt why it is called the festival of light and made puppets of the characters to act out the story and show what we could remember! We also had a go at some Bollywood dancing to learn some new moves and see if we could spot all the different classes! We also tried listening to some more calming music, using Hindu temple music during one of our relaxation sessions.
We looked at different Hindu temples around the world and even tried to make our own using out junk-modelling boxes then decorating with lots of bright beautiful colours like the inside of the temples.
For Holi festival we looked at why they use bright colours and liked the look of paint throwing festivals! We decided that this was too messy for school though and that we would try making Rangoli patters with different materials instead!
We loved when our friends at home joined us on teams for our our Understanding the world lesson looking at Rangoli art- we can’t wait to see what you will create at home!
Some of our children in school and at home worked on researching different religions too, using devices to answer questions to help write blogs. Grace and Daniel wrote blogs on Hinduism and Christianity in class while Hasan and Sonny wrote the Islam and Buddhism blogs at home. Joseph helped Miss Riley to choose the pictures for the Judaism blog too and learnt about some Jewish holidays. The blogs are on the school website and absolutely fantastic, please check them out!
The children at home worked through some RE activity banks and tried the six star challenges set for world religion week! This was on top of some activities with their families and education city work, wow!
Well done to our star of the week this week- Kayla - for fantastic science experiments with mum at home!
Keep up the good work Willow class!
