We have had a lovely first week back in Sycamore.

This week we had a very important challenge! To help build a house for a Minibeast!

We started learning all about different minibeasts. We looked at lots of minibeasts including ladybirds, worms, ants, spiders and then spoke about where we think they live. Sycamore were fantastic thinking of different names for the Minibeasts. We then looked at an independent matching challenge, where we had to match the insect to the place we might find them, then we used what we had learnt to think about the materials we might need to build a Minibeast hotel. We decided on wood, sticks, leaves and grass, so working in small groups we went to find and collect the materials from outside.  We then used the iPads to research bug hotels and drew a plan of what we wanted include in ours. From this we used our plan to build our bug hotel!

We looked at our number bonds this week, we have been looking at breaking down a problem into elements, looking at making connections with numbers as a way of solving the problem.

Sycamore have done some wonderful writing about what we did in our Easter holidays, we focussed on our letter formation before sharing with our friends. We loved hearing all about what each other has been up to.

We have also been looking at healthy choices in eating and drinking. What do we mean by healthy and unhealthy? What foods we think are healthy, what is unhealthy and what is a mixture of both.

What a great week back Sycamore!
