Today Willow class learnt about racism and equality- treating all people the same.

Willow class discussed what it means to be racist and everyone knew this was a bad choice. We talked about how it would make us feel to be treated differently to everyone else. Willow class said treating someone differently isn’t fair and that everyone deserves respect and kindness.

We looked at how we are all different and no one is the same. We looked at what makes us special and stand out. Some children said they were special because of things they could do e.g. score goals and dance, and some children said they are special because of their personalities e.g. they are a good friend or kind to others.

We looked at how we are all different- different eye colours, different hair textures, different skin colours, different families and different hobbies. We spoke about how it would be boring if we all looked the same and sounded the same. Then we looked at how we are all the same and listed some things we have in common or things we like. Willow class talked about how all our different class members make up one fantastic class- just like a puzzle! We then designed our own puzzle pieces to represent all the different skills and talents of our class.
