Good afternoon,
What a great week we have had in 8A. It has been action packed and full of fun, laughter, and learning.
Our Star of the Week this week is Olivia - for showing 'determination' to walk all the way to the supermarket and back. Olivia didn’t use her wheelchair once and showed great improvements in her stamina. Olivia made us proud all week but this physical effort was amazing!
We began the week with our community access visits and visited a different café by foot. This enabled the pupils to get a better understanding of their local surroundings while practicing their independent travel skills and functional communication.
On Tuesday we started a new block of swimming at a different pool – Allseasons. This week the class were assessed by their new swimming instructors, so that next week they can continue their excellent swimming progress that they made in Autumn 1.
When in school with Mr Massey, the class continued to develop their knowledge of number with a focus on place value and looked at poetry, learning how to write a quintain poem about Bonfire night.
In our Thursday afternoon ‘Me & My Body’ PE lesson we undertook a new sport and began learning how to play Volleyball. All the pupils showed a great development as they mastered the ball striking technique called ‘the dig’.
Friday saw the boys continue their learning about social skills and they participated in a Superflex lesson about ‘what the brain does and what are super flexible (good) and rock brain (bad) choices’ and they girls continued to explore personal development and friendship skills.
We then split into our daily living skills groups and began learning a new baking recipe – Bonfire biscuits.
We hope you like our pictures! Don’t forget to like, share and comment!
Have a great weekend.
Mr Massey
