Another amazing Safer Internet Day at Astley Park School.

Many pupils learned the importance of understanding of reasonable and healthy time on iPad. Something we can all struggle with is recognising when we have spent too long on a device. Many of our pupils are working hard with this focus - well done team!

Other pupils engaged in a DigiDuck story themed day, this is a story all about a duck who has challenging online safety dilemmas. The story shared with the class opens up opportunities for them to discuss and problem solve to help make the duck make good choices. They then created their own ducks to remind them of how we should be on the internet. Remembering DigiDuck will help us make good and positive choices online.

Our older pupils in school talked about what they access on the internet and were able to identify what activities they take part in whilst using different apps and sites. They were able to provide safety tips to each other, saying how they know it is a safe site and how to keep their accounts private. Our year 11s created a great youtube video talking about their online activities.

We were also lucky to join in the national Google assembly, helping the internauts make good choices. This was a great interactive assembly and pupils really enjoyed getting involved, we hope the parents’ did too!

Happy Safer Internet Day everyone!
